Police Use GPS to Find Stolen Equipment

TIPTON, Ind. – Police investigators used a GPS tracking device to find stolen equipment being stored inside a Tipton County barn.

Police say thieves took trucks, trailers, earth-moving equipment and other small items with an estimated total value of about $200,000.

Tipton County Sheriff’s Deputy Denn Pearson says a Plainfield resident put GPS trackers on several pieces of equipment because of recent thefts. The items were stolen, and authorities used a GPS tracker to find the equipment and other stolen items in the barn about 30 miles north of Indianapolis.
